While some might like to enjoy the theatre from the seats, we all know the only real way to truly be a part of the action is right up front.

Thanks to Pop-up Globe, you can get right into the action – believe us, you can’t get any closer than in the Groundlings GA area, and once you’ve had a taste, you’ll never want to watch a show any other way.

Expect to see full-scale battles, hundreds of litres of fake blood, awe-inspiring acrobatics, and an array of specially constructed period costumes – all brought together to make you feel like you’re well and truly part of the action.

Pop-up Globe is the world’s first full-scale temporary working replica of the second Globe – that’s right, the theatre Shakespeare and his company built and opened in 1614.

The whole experience wouldn’t quite be complete without some audience interaction. Just like the yard in Shakespeare’s day, the Groundlings area is an involved and exciting place to be.

Macbeth

From magical fantasy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream to controversial comedy The Merchant of Venice, the blood-soaked tragedy of Macbeth and laugh-out-loud slapstick The Comedy of Errors prepare to cheer, boo, clap, and heckle louder than you ever have before.

This is the closest you’ll ever come to seeing a Shakespearean play as it was originally performed 400 years ago. At least, almost. Every performance has a modern twist, honouring Shakespeare’s tradition of including pop-culture references relevant to the time. Here the Pop-up Globe have updated their shows accordingly, making these classic stories as relatable as possible.

BYO raincoats – splatterings of blood are almost guaranteed. And the best part, you get the whole experience for less than $30* or $20* in a group of four for selected performances.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Pop-up Globe will pop up at The Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park from October until December for its exciting Sydney season. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster.com.au.
