The Boy from Oz is currently wowing theatre lovers at Arts Centre Melbourne, see it before it closes on 26 Aug.
Muriel’s Wedding – The Musical was a phenomenal hit with theatre fans in Sydney, so much so that they’ve just confirmed a brand new season for 2019.
After a completely sold out premiere season at Sydney’s Roslyn Packer Theatre last November, Muriel is set to return to Sydney on an even bigger scale next year.
This big, brash and very cheeky new musical will play a strictly limited season at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in 2019.
20-year-old Maggie McKenna, from Melbourne, made her professional stage debut as Muriel last year, successfully stunning audiences in her first lead role.
Need a refresher on this popular tale? Muriel dreams of the perfect wedding – the dress, the church, the attention. There’s just one thing missing. A groom. Following her dreams to Sydney, Muriel ends up with everything she ever wanted. Naturally though, that’s when things start to go pretty wrong for our poor ol’ Muriel.
The Australian called it ‘Extraordinary’, while The Daily Telegraph said, ‘The music was sensational’, and The Sydney Morning Herald wrote, ‘A mainstage debut that will be talked about for years…You’re incredible Muriel’.
Don’t forget, Muriel’s incredible soundtrack includes all the best ABBA hits!
