Lucy Durack to star in Jack and the Beanstalk panto

Jack and the Beanstalk will arrive at the State Theatre in Sydney this July, running for just 15 performances from Friday 12 July until Sunday 21 July.

Director and Producer Bonnie Lythgoe has put together her sixth Australian pantomime , featuring a mesmerising 3D sequence, transporting the audience deep inside the Giant’s castle.

Lythgoe has just announced musical theatre favourite Lucy Durack will perform, taking on the role of Fairy Crystal, the ‘Spirit of the Beans’.

One of Australia’s most prominent performers on stage, Lythgoe said of Durack’s casting, “I have been admiring Lucy from afar and always hoped she would become a cast member and now my wish has come true”.

Lythgoe also announced Hi-5 star Lachlan Dearing will take on the role of Jack in the panto. “He is such a multi-talented actor and will make the perfect Jack,” said Lythgoe.

Anastasia Feneri has also been cast to play Jill alongside Dearing’s Jack.

The three cast announcements will join Peter Rowsthorn, from the much-loved Kath & Kim television series, as well as Jimmy Rees, more commonly known as Jimmy Giggle from ABC’s Giggle and Hoot, and currently stunning on Dancing with the Stars.
