Cirque du Soleil has brought their most acclaimed touring show Kurios – Cabinet of Curiosities to Australia, kicking off in Sydney before heading to Brisbane in January and February, Melbourne in March and April and Adelaide in May and June 2020.

Their motto is ‘reality is relative’ and that is definitely the case here. Everything really is possible. Kurios – Cabinet of Curiosities had its world premiere in Montreal back in April 2014 and since its debut, it has been delighting fans across North America. Now it’s Sydney audiences’ turn and if reactions since the show opened earlier this week are anything to go by, Kurios is not to be missed.

It’s been 35 years since French Canadian street performers Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix joined forces to create what has now become one of the most well-known and exciting theatrical production companies in the world – Cirque du Soleil. Australian audiences have been getting acquainted with their signature brand of awe and wonder since 1999, when they first visited our shores with the incredible Saltimbanco. The scale, design, and creativity behind the production was a revelation. And two decades on, they haven’t stopped inspiring that same edge-of-your-seat thrill in audiences Down Under since.

That’s where Kurios steps in. The formula, at its core, is much the same – high-flying acrobatics, heart-stopping large scale theatrics balanced with smaller-scale thrills, audience interaction, strange and superhuman characters, music, and bold costuming are all in the mix. But Kurios is also in a world of its own. It is a steampunk odyssey brimming with magnificent, otherworldy characters and creations – in the world of Kurios, your imagination is your greatest strength.

If you’re new to the world of Cirque du Soleil, then Kurios will provide the perfect introduction. If you’re a veteran, we promise there are enough surprises to keep your passion firing.
