Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre, Misty Copeland, is set to appear with The Australian Ballet in Sydney.

For limited performances on the evening of 22 and 24 November, the legendary ballet dancer will join the Australian company in The Sleeping Beauty.

Misty Copeland made history in 2015 when she became the first African-American woman to be promoted to principal ballerina for the American Ballet Theatre, one of the three leading classical ballet companies in the US.

The Sleeping Beauty is set to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated score, and features stunning designs by Gabriela Tylesova.

“Our artistic director’s new production stays true to the magic and majesty of the original,” say The Australian Ballet. “[The Sleeping Beauty] showcases the talents of the entire company in iconic moments like the Rose Adage and the Bluebird Pas de deux.”

Billed as the iconic company’s most lavish production yet, the November season of The Sleeping Beauty is a must for ballet lovers and first-timers alike.
