Everything you need to know for The World Cup of Golf
We've been counting down for months, now the 2018 World Cup of Golf is finally set to launch at The Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne.
Teeing off this Wednesday 21 November, 28 nations will come together to compete in the 2018 World Cup of Golf at The Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne.
The top-ranked player from each country has picked a second player from their country to compete with and competition is looking fierce. Australia’s team this year sees Marc Leishman pair up with Cameron Smith, while Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter will represent England, Kyle Stanley and Matt Kuchar make up team United States, and last year’s champions Thorbjorn Olesen and Soren Kjeldsen will again make up Denmark’s pair. Round one will see some huge match ups, with Australia VS United States, Denmark VS England, and Korea VS China all ready to go.
In the 59th edition of the World Cup, the 56-player field will be competing for the largest prize-money pool in Australian golf, with $US7 million up for grabs.

Things to do
Aside from watching some of the best golfers in the world in action, there’s a lot on offer at the World Cup. You can stop by the Practice Range and watch some of the best players in the world prepare for their round. At The Village, you can see a live band, taste the offerings from the tournament’s local food partners, or even take a swing on an X-Golf simulator. At the centre of The Village, you’ll also find ‘The Longest Charity Putt’ and the Kings Domain pop-up barber raising funds for The Movember Foundation.
The best views
1st Tee – The energy will be palpable as all 28 two-man teams begin their round. You’ll definitely want to secure your spot around the tee to watch the best players in the world up close.
6th Green – Head towards the 6th green, which offers views of the scenic par-3 6th hole, approach shots on the par-4 5th and tee shots on the par-5 7th. Here you’ll find out exactly why Metropolitan is considered one of the best-conditioned courses in the world.
The Oasis– Located behind the 13th green, The Oasis is the perfect change of scenery. With food and drink options, as well as views of several different shots, it’s the perfect place to relax, set up camp for a few hours and take in the action.
16th Hole Grandstand – Continue your tour of The Metropolitan Golf Club by finding out if players decide for go for the green on the short par-4 16th hole.
18th Hole – Make the short trek to the finishing hole to watch teams finish their round with (hopefully) plenty of high-fives and fist bumps while taking in your final views of Metropolitan.

ISPS HANDA Disabled Golf Cup
On Friday 23 and Saturday 24 November, immediately following second and third-round play, 12 of the world’s leading golfers with a disability from seven different countries will compete in the ISPS HANDA Disabled Golf Cup. The 36-hole invitational competition will see contestants play in three groups of four, at ten-minute intervals, and will mirror the World Cup format on the same tees and course conditions.
The ISPS HANDA Melbourne World Cup of Golf will take place at The Metropolitan Golf Club, Melbourne from Wednesday 21 November until Sunday 25 November. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com.au.
