Tiger Woods has locked in his U.S. Presidents Cup team
Tickets are now on sale to see the 2018 World Cup of Golf, to be held this year at The Metropolitan Golf Club in Oakleigh South, Melbourne. The tournament will take place from Wednesday 21 November, through to Sunday 25 November.
The Melbourne World Cup of Golf sees 28, two-person teams made up of the top players in the world. The largest prize money in Australian golf will be on offer, totalling $US7 million.
Executive Director Robyn Cooper said of the World Cup of Golf, “We expect a world-class field on hand with the World Cup of Golf returning to Melbourne. The ability to play in a rare team format, the reputation of Metropolitan as a course and Melbourne as an incredible host city, as well as the stature of the World Cup as a historic international event, are all factors in drawing some of the biggest names in the game”.
The top 28 players from the available countries as of Monday 3September 2018 will officially qualify for the tournament. The top ranked player from each country may then pick a second player from their country to compete with (permitted they are within the top 500 players in the Official World Golf Rankings).
Players must commit to the tournament by Thursday 13 September 2018, whilst their elected partner must commit by Thursday 20 September 2018.
