Why not turn Irish for the weekend?

The 2018 Sydney Irish Festival arrives in Sydney this weekend, and you simply must be there.

We know you’ve been waiting for it, and now is your chance to turn Irish for the day. This Sunday 11 November sees the inaugural Sydney Irish Festival, held at Sydney Showground.

A celebration of absolutely everything Irish, this is going to be a whole lot of fun. Rediscover those Celtic roots and get your jig on with plenty of live music to get you up and about. Or, how about trying out some delicious Irish eats, and wash it all down with a refreshing pint as the weather turns it on for us (sunny and 22 predicted). There will be market stalls and amusement rides and plenty of entertainment for all ages. Make sure you round up your friends and family, dust off your favourite green outfit, and embrace that Irish spirit.

Hurling

But wait, we’ve left out the best part.

The day features the battle for the Wild Geese Trophy, as competitive hurling arrives Down Under. If you’re not familiar with the sport, it’s one that should be on your bucket list. One of the fastest, intense and most demanding sports on the planet, hurling is sure to impress. It’s no friendly exhibition either, with the Wild Geese Trophy seeing the 2018 National Hurling League winners Kilkenny take on 2017 All Ireland champions Galway (featuring 7 All-Stars) at Spotless Stadium. The winner gains automatic entry into the 2020 edition of the tournament.
