AFL and NRL headline this weekend’s sporting action. Have a look across the country at what’s on.

Victoria

Footy takes over as we enter Round 7. First up in Friday night (3 May) footy is Collingwood v Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium. In the match of the round, it’s third versus fifth as both sides head in with strong form behind them.

Can Port Adelaide cement their Premiership contender credentials, or will a rampaging Pies outfit make it four in a row? Either way, Friday night is going to be intense.

We then roll into another Marvel Stadium clash on Saturday (4 May) as the Western Bulldogs take on a depleted Richmond outfit. The Doggies will be looking to reverse their form slump against a weakened Tigers side who sit just inside the eight. But, despite this, Richmond seem to keep getting the job done with the young players coming in in the absence of superstars, showing even the future is bright at Tigerland.

The third match of the round at Marvel sees Carlton face North Melbourne on Sunday afternoon (5 May). Whilst it may seem a bottom of the table clash, it is certain to be so much more. Two of the most talked about teams of the last two weeks go head to head in a real flip of the coin.

North Melbourne’s effort and ability has been questioned of late and will be sure to put in a hungry display.

Carlton on the other hand are talked about as being right on the verge of success. Could this game be the turning point?

New South Wales

We hand over to the NRL in Sydney as Manly Sea Eagles battle Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday evening (4 May) at Lottoland.

Coming off a gutsy win over a strong Raiders side, the Sea Eagles are in good form, currently sitting sixth on the ladder. They face the bottom-of-the-table Bulldogs and will be desperate for a big win to knock themselves into top four contention.

Jake Trbojevic is having a monster season and will captain the Sea Eagles this weekend in the absence of Daly Cherry-Evans.

Western Australia

Just the one clash this weekend as the reigning Premiers look to turn it around with West Coast taking on Gold Coast. Both sides are in a similar vein of form, and West Coast will be desperate to put on a show back at home at Optus Stadium on Saturday night (4 May).

After losing their past two, the Suns will believe they’re in with a genuine sniff, and West Coast will need to buck their losing trend of late.

How good is this kid going to be!

Queensland

Flying across the country, we’re back at The Gabba with Brisbane Lions v Sydney on Saturday afternoon (4 May). After such a promising start that had the whole footy world talking, the Lions have slowed slightly, but a big win over rivals Gold Coast last week has them up and about again.

Last time the Lions took to The Gabba two weeks ago, they sold it out. Taking on a lowly placed Swans outfit, the Lions will be smelling blood and fans will be expecting as much after seeing the quality performances Brisbane have been able to dish out this season.
