The Melbourne Renegades are two wins from two to start the 2018/19 BBL season in perfect fashion.
In very positive signs, the Renegades disposed of BBL|07 semi-finalists and table-toppers Perth Scorchers in the first clash of the season, with nearly five overs remaining as Dan Christian knocked a huge six for the winning runs. Sam Harper top-scored with 36, followed by Mohammad Nabi with 35. Both Kane Richardson and Dan Christian scalped three wickets each, whilst Usman Khan won the man of the match award with two wickets and a very economical 17 runs off 4 overs.

The ‘Gades backed it up a few days later as they then knocked off BBL|07 Champions, the Adelaide Strikers. The winning runs were left much later this time, with Mohammad Nabi claiming a boundary to finish this one off with five balls remaining. Nabi and Christian were the standouts with the bat in this one, finishing on 48 not out and 49 not out respectively. Christian also took home his first man of the match award for this season.

Renegades ‘keeper Tim Ludeman leaves everyone in stitches with his Richie Benaud impersonation mid-match

After knocking off two of the hot favourites in the Scorchers and Strikers to start the season, the Renegades have cemented themselves as serious contenders this campaign.

The Renegades next clash sees them back at Marvel Stadium, as they take on the Sydney Sixers on Saturday night at 7pm (29 December).
