Fans flooded the state-of-the-art stands at Perth’s brand new stadium venue for the cricket fixture between Australia and England.
Ahead of the event, WACA CEO Ms Christina Matthews said: “Cricket is proud of the role it has played in assisting the Government to open Optus Stadium with the highest quality content.”
Tweeting after Sunday’s opening event, Optus Stadium said, “A huge thank you to every single one of the 53,781 fans who attended the first sporting event at the magnificent Optus Stadium today for the final Gillette One-Day International, the highest attended match of the series!”
