Fans of the Australian MotoGP™ are well aware that no year is ever the same. Whether it’s on-track or around the Island, every year is a different experience.

The MotoGP™ returns to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit next month, so let’s do a deep-dive into what you can expect at this year’s event.

Is Jack Miller a chance?

Is resident Aussie rider Jack Miller finally ready to make the leap to being a serious contender in the race?

Now with five years behind him in the top tier, Miller has developed the experience and maturity to finally fulfil his potential. The 24-year-old currently sits seventh in the MotoGP™ rankings, a feat that would eclipse his previous best placing of 11th in 2017.

Miller already has two podium finishes in 2019, in The Americas and Czech Republic, coupled with two fourth-placed races in Argentina and France. Apart from a win in the Netherlands in 2016, Miller has never previously grabbed a podium finish in four years, highlighting the significant step up the Aussie has made in 2019.

Aussie Moto legend Wayne Gardner says of Miller and the race, “I think that he’ll have a chance of winning at Phillip Island.

“I want to see the Australian crowds go and buy tickets and come and join us. Jack’s racing, potentially he could be a winner there.

“It’s very, very, very inspiring to see the Australian flag, your own flags, your numbers and everyone chanting.”

Can Miller challenge in his home race for the first time ever? Well, one thing is for sure and that is that Jack Miller is having his best season in the MotoGP™ to date.

Guess there’s only one way to find out.

Comedy on show at the MotoGP™

This year, ticket holders to the Doohan Pavilion, Clubhouse, and Gardner Club will be treated to an intimate comedy show from Australia’s king of laughs, Dave Hughes.
