As they prepare to arrive in Australia, Manchester United have announced they will partner with Western Australian children’s charity, Telethon.

Throughout February, $5 from each ticket sold to see Manchester United in Perth will be donated to Telethon. Manchester United will be taking on the A-League’s Perth Glory (Saturday 13 July 2019) and English rivals Leeds United (Wednesday 17 July) at Optus Stadium. For purchases of the two-game bundle, $10 will be donated.

The Telethon partnership is hosted in conjunction with the Manchester United Foundation. Proceeds from the alliance will flow into the development of an innovative football program for children with disabilities. This provides the opportunity for children with physical and intellectual disabilities to participate in football throughout Perth, within an integrated team competition.

The CEO of the Manchester United Foundation, John Shiels, says this groundbreaking initiative is the first time Manchester United have worked in such a manner with a local charity while on tour. Speaking about the partnership, Shiels says, “At the Foundation, we have always been about encouraging more young disabled boys and girls to access inclusive football, and we are delighted this program will be taken up in Perth and that Manchester United and Telethon can help fund this program.”

Manchester United themselves have seen a significant reversal in form of late, now sitting in 4th position in the Premier League and undefeated in 11 matches, with stars such as Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford in blistering form. Leeds United themselves sit second in the English Championship, looking to get back into the top flight for next season. While Perth Glory are killing it in their own right, sitting seven points clear atop the A-League table.

For football fans planning on seeing one of world sport’s greatest clubs in action, February is the perfect time to purchase your tickets. All tickets to both clashes at Optus Stadium can be found at Ticketmaster.com.au.
