If Brisbane Lions are able to sell out The Gabba tomorrow night against Collingwood, it will be the first time in nine years the Club has managed to do so.

The last time Brisbane cracked a full house was round two 2010, as Brisbane hosted Carlton and Brendan Fevola faced his former side for the first time.

Brisbane are flying so far in 2019, currently sitting 3-1 and inside the top four. A combination of new recruits and youngsters rising to the occasion has Lions fans very excited. Lachie Neale is the talk of the town after crossing from Fremantle in the off-season, currently averaging an astonishing 39 disposals this season.

The Pies themselves sit just inside the top eight at 2-2.

A solid performance and crowd on Thursday will go a long way to the Lions getting their wish of a permanent Brisbane v Collingwood Easter Thursday fixture moving forward.

Gillon McLachlan (AFL CEO) gave his feedback on the idea, saying of Brisbane, “They’ve got to deliver, they know that, but they’re feel-good.

“We would love for that to be a permanent or semi-permanent slot.

“We know it can work. We know the people travel. We know the Brisbane supporters support the slot so if we can make it work, we’d love to do that.”

The capacity at The Gabba is approximately 36,700, including ‘The Verandah’ seating, a massive hit in its inception year of 2018.
