A-League finals, footy action, ice hockey, netball – this weekend has it all.

Need an excuse to get out of the house? For all you sports fans out there, we have your round-up of all the sport happening across the country this weekend, right here.

Western Australia

It’s Semi-Finals week in the Hyundai A-League. They’ve been almost unstoppable this season, but there’s plenty of work to do as Perth Glory tackle Adelaide United on Friday night (10 May) at HBF Park, kicking off at 6.30pm.

A win will seal the Glory’s (or Adelaide’s) berth in the 2019 Hyundai A-League Grand Final, so there is everything to play for in the crucial clash.

This is it…

Sunday 12 May will see us return to Optus Stadium for some footy action as Fremantle take on Richmond. Freo are flying in 2019, currently sitting just outside the top 4. Richmond have the same 4-3 record, but currently, sit outside the top 8. A win is essential for both sides with such an even competition and so many sides sitting in the same position.

Can Freo get the job done against a depleted Tigers outfit and boost themselves back into the top four? 3.20pm bounce.

Victoria

First up is the Australian Ice Hockey League at O’Brien Icehouse. It’s the Melbourne Derby as Melbourne Ice face Melbourne Mustangs, with a 7.30pm puck drop on Friday night (10 May).

If you are yet to witness ice hockey live, this weekend is your chance. One of the most entertaining sports live, see Australia’s best go toe to toe in three games across the weekend.

Melbourne Mustangs then take on Sydney Ice Dogs on Saturday (11 May), before Melbourne Ice have a run at the Ice Dogs on Sunday (12 May). All games are held at the O’Brien Icehouse, and with a match each day this weekend, there’s no excuse not to go down and check out one of the toughest, yet most skilful sports going around.

In footy action, we head to Ballarat’s Mars Stadium first up on Saturday (11 May) with Western Bulldogs v Brisbane Lions at 1.45pm.

Coming off a big win over the 2017 Premiers, the Doggies are barking again, but Brisbane are in good form and with a top four berth on the line, will be looking to knock the Dogs off their perch. This one is set up to be a very enticing clash.

The action continues that night (11 May) at Marvel Stadium as St Kilda face West Coast Eagles. Not many would have thought the Saints would be sitting above West Coast at this stage of the season, but that’s how it looks.

West Coast are still yet to convince the footy world in 2019, while St Kilda are difficult to read. The result of this one could tell us a whole lot about how the season will pan out for both of these sides.

We’re back at Marvel Stadium on Mother’s Day (12 May) as North Melbourne battle Geelong from 1.10pm.

Have North finally turned the corner to regain the form that saw them go oh-so-close to a finals berth last season? Well, an in-form Cats side will pose a real test for the Kangaroos, with Geelong sitting pretty atop the ladder and playing some scintillating football this season.

South Australia

We then turn our attention to Adelaide, and the Suncorp Super Netball. Adelaide Thunderbirds take on the Melbourne Vixens at Priceline Stadium on Saturday (11 May), starting at 2.30pm.

After a big off-season of recruiting, the Thunderbirds are already ahead of their 2018 season win tally after just two rounds. They’re looking the real deal in 2019 and hoping to be a serious threat this season. Can they knock off an ever-powerful Vixens side?
