Aussie footy fans just got a new game to get hooked on; introducing AFLX.

An all-new footy concept launched by the AFL, AFLX sets out to showcase the sport’s most thrilling elements by incorporating some of the most familiar aspects with a whole new set of rules.

AFLX will be played on a rectangular field with seven players on the field and three on the bench. Think of it as an express form of the game, but packed with just as many explosive moments.

Six teams will compete in the inaugural 2018 AFLX Competition; Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne, St Kilda, Hawthorn and Melbourne.

This first-ever AFLX competition takes place across three days, in three different states between 15 – 17 February.

Each event will feature two pools of three playing in a round robin format. A Grand Final will then be played at each event.

As well as the action on the pitch, fans can expect fireworks, DJs, live performers and family zones to keep the kids entertained.

Ticketmaster will be ticketing for the Melbourne AFLX fixture at Etihad Stadium on Friday 16 February.
