Melbourne is waiting in anticipation for the Presidents Cup to arrive at Royal Melbourne in December this year.

Tiger Woods and Ernie Els are set to lead the U.S and International teams respectively as they head Down Under from Monday 9 until Sunday 15 December.

After Woods previously announced Fred Couples, Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker as his assistants, Ernie Els has now revealed his deputies for the tournament. Joining the previously confirmed Geoff Ogilvy, Els will now lead the International team with K.J Coi, Trevor Immelman and Mike Weir.

It will be Choi’s second time as a Captain’s Assistant, after supporting Nick Price in his home country of Korea for the 2015 tournament.

Immelman will take on the role of Assistant for the first time, after previously playing in the Presidents Cup in 2005 and 2007. Speaking of his relationship with Els, Immelman said, “I probably know Ernie better than any of the other people on tour and so hopefully what I can bring to the team is the fact that I really understand the captain.”

It will be Weir’s second appearance as a Captain’s Assistant, after serving in the 2017 Cup for Nick Price.
