Boomers announce 2019 FIBA World Cup squad

The Boomers side will take on USA Basketball at Marvel Stadium this August.

The Boomers have today announced a 17-man squad for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The side will be the same one to face USA Basketball in Melbourne in preparation for the tournament. The two huge clashes against the world’s best will take place on Thursday 22 and Saturday 24 August at Marvel Stadium, with tickets almost gone.

The squad features nine NBA players, following a record year of Australian representation in the NBA. In addition, seven players who led the side to a fourth-place finish at the 2016 Rio Olympics have been named.

Headlined by Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons, the side features further big names such as Matthew Dellavedova, Joe Ingles, Patty Mills, Andrew Bogut, Aron Baynes and Jonah Bolden.
