In huge news, we’ve just announced that Ticketmaster is partnering with the Australian Open and Tennis Australia to ensure every tennis fan gets in to see the action easier than ever before.
From 2020, we’ll become the official ticket agent for the Australian Open, the ATP Cup, Brisbane International, Adelaide International and Hobart International. And the news comes with some bonuses for tennis fans.
In a first for major sports and entertainment events in Australia, we’re scrapping all ticket fees on tickets for tennis events across the country.
Our new partnership with the Australian Open, also means we’re continuing the move towards digital tickets. We’re encouraging fans to purchase digital tickets – accessible through their mobile phones and smartwatches – in an effort to minimise scalping and ticket fraud, making your tickets easy to access and transfer between friends, and ensure we deliver your most personalised Tennis ticketing experience yet.
“With more than 800,000 fans coming through turnstiles every year, the Australian Open is one of the highest attended sporting events in the world. We are fully committed to delivering the best possible experience to our fans, from the moment they decide to buy their ticket, to when they come through the gates,” says Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia.
Commenting on the partnership, Maria O’Connor, Managing Director of Ticketmaster Australia and New Zealand says, “Ticketmaster is very proud to be working with Tennis Australia to revolutionise the way fans access tickets. Through our partnership, fans will be able to access digital tickets which will ensure a much more personalised experience, while increasing security measures and minimising ticket fraud.”
Rest assured though – if you aren’t quite ready to make the switch to digital tickets just yet, paper tickets will still be available. However, we do encourage digital entry passes!
We will also launch a bespoke online booking service to assist fans with a disability through a new inclusion commitment. Developed with the assistance of Get Skilled Access, the consultancy championed by Grand Slam champion Dylan Alcott OAM, fans with accessible requirements will receive a more personalised service than ever before.
“Along with the team at Get Skilled Access, we’ve been working with Ticketmaster to ensure that fans have greater and fairer access to tickets at next year’s Australian Open,” Dylan Alcott OAM says.
Ticketmaster are already huge fans of tennis around the globe, with official ticket partnerships for the USTA and the US Open, The Championships Wimbledon, Rolex Paris Masters, the Miami Open, the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament and more recently announced a partnership with Tennis Canada underway.

Tickets for the Australian Open 2020 will go on sale from Tuesday 8 October and the ATP Cup from Wednesday 18 September. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com.au.
