The Aus-X Open is just months away, as Marvel Stadium prepares to host the biggest off-road motorcycle racing and action sports event in Australian history.

The Grand Final round of the 2019 Australian Supercross Championship will be held in Melbourne on Saturday 30 November. This will see the world’s best Supercross riders take to a custom-made world-championship-sized track at Marvel Stadium.

The event requires over 6,000 tonnes of dirt to be shipped onto the hallowed turf. The event will be supported by freestyle motocross, live music, and some crazy pyrotechnics to seriously light up the crowd.

Held in Melbourne for the first time (previously launched in Sydney in 2015), the transformation of the stadium will be nothing short of miraculous.

Who’s coming?

A stack of superstars have already been locked in to compete at the event.

The 2018 World Supercross Champion Jason Anderson has confirmed his attendance, saying, “This will be my first time in Melbourne. I’ve never been there but I heard it’s a super awesome city and I can’t wait to check out a new part of Australia. It’ll be fun.

“My favourite thing about the AUS-X Open event is the number of fans the race attracts, they’re so enthusiastic and you can really hear the fans whenever something happens, or if you’re in a battle, you can really hear the crowd go crazy.”

Known as the GOAT, Ricky Carmichael has also locked himself in. The greatest dirt bike racer of all time has won an incredible 12 Championships in a hall-of-fame-worthy career, but this will also be his first time in Melbourne.

The Scottish Thunder Dean Wilson will also be back, after taking out the event in 2017 and coming runners up in 2018.

The greatest Aussie rider ever, Chad Reed, will compete as well. A two-time World Champion, this will be the 37-year-old’s first race in Melbourne in nearly 20 years.

The 2019 World Supercross Championship Rookie of the Year Joey Savatgy will also race, saying, “I can’t wait to head Down Under for the Monster Energy AUS-X Open Melbourne. The calibre of riders that the event brings each year makes me so pumped to get out there and take it to the world’s best on Aussie soil.”

American Jason Brayton will also be a part of the event, adding to an insane list of international and Aussie talent ready to hit the Marvel Stadium track.

The event is primed to host some of the greatest riders the world has seen and promises to be unlike any off-road motorcycle event this country has ever seen.
