There’s plenty of other contenders floating around as well, with Melbourne finally ready to launch a realistic assault on the Flag, while Adelaide and Essendon will be giving it a red hot crack.

Round 1 gets underway on Thursday March 21. Marvel Stadium will host two clashes that round, with the Western Bulldogs taking on Sydney on Saturday 23 March, before St Kilda welcome the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday (24 March).
The match of the round is surely GWS up against Essendon at Sydney Showground Stadium on the Sunday, with both sides primed as Premiership contenders.
