A young and talented Brisbane Lions outfit will be looking to improve on their five wins last season and challenge for a top-eight berth in 2019.

Tickets to see the Lions in action at The Gabba this season are on sale now.

Brisbane dispatched of a weakened Hawthorn outfit in their first pre-season JLT Community Series game last week, taking out a seven-goal win.

Brisbane’s off-season recruits put on classy displays, with Lachie Neale (31 disposals), Jarryd Lyons (26 disposals and one goal) and Lincoln McCarthy (17 disposals, eight tackles and one goal) were arguably the three best players on the ground.

Neale made the switch from Fremantle in the off-season and is widely regarded as one of the game’s most prolific ball winners, as he looks to take on the role previously held by Dayne Beams and add some star-power to the Lions outfit.

Lyons made the switch from Gold Coast in the off-season, after previously plying his trade in Adelaide. An undisputed talent with a knack for finding the footy, he will be hoping to finally gain consistent game-time and live up to his undoubted potential.

While struggling for game-time and injuries at Geelong, McCarthy is also a serious talent who will only need consistent minutes to more than prove his worth to the Brisbane faithful.

Brisbane Lions’ 2017 number 1 draft pick Cam Rayner was impressive against Hawthorn with three goals and will look to go even bigger as he enters his second season.

The Lions will be relying on their stacked younger brigade to take the next step in 2019, with players such as Eric Hipwood, Hugh McCluggage, Alex Witherden, Jarrod Berry, and Harris Andrews ready to really impose themselves on the competition.

There’s no doubting Cam Rayner will be an absolute star

Dayne Zorko will captain the side again after being appointed as interim Captain for the majority of 2018 after Dayne Beams stepped down.

Harris Andrews will support Zorko as vice-captain. Ryan Lester, Allen Christensen, and Stef Martin will continue to support the leadership group, while Darcy Gardiner, Jarrod Berry, and Lachie Neale have been added to round out the eight-man group.
