2018 was a year to forget for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. After going winless for the entire season, the Thunderbirds went hard in their recruiting in the off-season, and it seems to have paid off.

They broke a 27-game losing streak in the opening round of the season against West Coast Fever, before going down to the NSW Swifts in Round 2.

Adelaide will host the Melbourne Vixens at Priceline Stadium this Saturday 11 May, starting at 2.30pm. The Vixens are undefeated themselves, sitting at the top of the table, and will post a real test for the new Thunderbirds squad.

The Thunderbirds have welcomed England Rose goal defence Layla Guscoth this season, as well as Silver Fern goal shooter Maria Folau. English wing defence Beth Cobden also joined the team adding further serious starpower to their 2019 roster.

After this weekend’s clash, the Thunderbirds have three more clashes remaining at Priceline Stadium this season. Next up is Queensland Firebirds on 26 May, before waiting until August to face Collingwood Magpies (4 August) and GWS Giants (18 August) at the venue.
