Taking Back Sunday to celebrate 20 years in Melbourne

It's a good time to be a (not so) reformed emo kid.

Aaahhh, breathe in. Can you smell it? That’s the sweet, sweet scent of nostalgia in the air.

From long-awaited reunion tours to huge celebrations of some of our favourite early 2000s records, it really is a great time to be a grown-up who still longs for the days when their black jeans were tighter and their side fringes were thicker.

Next in line to throw a big ol’ birthday party are our favourite alt-rock/emo heroes Taking Back Sunday, because turning the big 2-0 is well worth celebrating.

And before you start doing the math and freaking out, because yes it has been almost 20 years since Taking Back Sunday got together, and yes you have gotten older, just think back to the first time you heard Cute Without The ‘E’ or screaming the lyrics to MakeDamnSure while driving down the freeway with your best friends (and maybe also their mum because you couldn’t get your license yet) and prepare for the perfect trip down memory lane.

Returning to our shores just shy of two years since their last visit, Taking Back Sunday will be honouring their musical legacy by reliving the landmark albums that defined their career. In a special treat for Melbourne fans, the Long Island rockers will play through not only their second full-length, 2004’s Where You Want To Be, but also their huge major label debut, 2006’s Louder Now IN FULL.

The band are also promising a couple of other favourites from across their catalogue (so we’re definitely crossing our fingers for a little dip back to 2002) as well as quite possibly a new song or two.
