Stone Sour champion career-spanning setlist in Oz

We head to Festival Hall for the Melbourne date of Stone Sour's Hydrograd tour.

Corey Taylor has a way of owning a room; whether he’s at the helm of Slipknot or Stone Sour, the famed frontman has fans gripped on his every move.

While Stone Sour may be considered an easier-to-digest alternative to Corey’s main heavy metal outfit, the live experience isn’t as far removed.

Tonight, the Festival Hall crowd roars as the Iowa singer leads his Stone Sour army to war; multiple circle pits erupt simultaneously on the floor and seated fans fist-pump fearlessly from the rafters.

There’s isn’t a still body in the audience as the band battle through a lot of early material. The likes of Made of Scars, Say You’ll Haunt Me and 30/30-150 proceed with military precision.

“This is by far the band’s most successful song to date,” Corey Taylor says into Hydrograd‘s hit track, Song #3.

The charm of this track in particular is that it marries the most powerful parts of Stone Sour’s back catalogue. It’s no different on a live stage, either.

Fans belt out the chorus like they’ve spent hours practicing for this very moment, and it’s impossible not to notice the band savoring every second.

Absolute Zero remains one of Stone Sour’s finest offerings, delivered during a three-song encore which concludes with another Hydrograd favourite, Fabuless.

Colourful confetti canons, cartoon streamers and a sea of dedicated devil horns confirm what we already knew, Stone Sour will do things their own way until the end. And you know what? We wouldn’t want it any other way. 🤘
