#MarchToTheMusic is nearly over, and frankly we’ve had a blast. To celebrate an epic month of live music, we sat down some of the biggest music fans at Ticketmaster HQ to ask them the most important question of them all…
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only save one track to listen to for the rest of time, what would it be and why?
Here’s what they told us:
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen: Songwriting genius personified and one of only a handful of songs ever written not to feature a chorus. Sam
Africa by Toto: This song needs absolutely no explanation! Fiona
Dancing On My Own by Robyn: I love something that you can sing along to at the top of your lungs (mostly in tune) in the car, feel a little bit sad about when drinking wine alone, and also is an absolute banger to break your body to. Josh
Rudy, A Message To You by Dandy Livingstone: It’s pretty much the soundtrack of my brain, and my go-to whistling song and always puts a smile on my face when I hear it played out somewhere. Ollie
Free Falling by Tom Petty: It’s just a great song! Roy
Thinking Of You by Sister Sledge: After a lot of soul searching and Spotify reflecting, it’s gotta be Thinking of You. The perfect Nile Rodgers’ production is slick, smooth and everything you need to take your mind off being stuck on a desert island. Georgia
Pain by The War On Drugs: It has some amazing guitar solos that I can imagine air-guitaring on the beach of said desert island and it is just a great all around song. It goes for a nice lengthy amount of time and it isn’t repetitive and I think I could listen to it as a pump up song or a quiet song depending on what mood the island has me in. I have pretty much listened to three or four of the songs on that album on repeat since it was released last year and I am not close to becoming tired of any of them! Mitch

The Chariot by The Cat Empire: I often reminisce about times with my friends back in the UK and The Cat Empire’s epic love letter to their mates never ceases to put a smile on my face. I reckon it could do the same on this Island. Sian
Since I’ve Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin: Well, because it’s one of the greatest songs ever written! Soulful blues with a slow and hypnotising trademark Zeppelin feel. Page’s guitar builds to amazing heights while complimenting Plant’s tortured lyrics. Perfect song duration to have on repeat on my desert island. Mark
Let Me Back In by Explosions In The Sky: This tune is a real attack of the senses and has some sort of cathartic power, its so peaceful and so full of journey at the same time. Kind of what I imagine being on a deserted island to be like. Vanessa
Ascension by Maxwell: Once in a while a track comes along that inspires and delights. From the first time I heard this song to this very day, it has the same effect on me. Cool, funky, dreamy, great message and lyrics and a song I couldn’t imagine not being able to hear again. Hands down this would be my choice. Pete
Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds: If I was stranded on an island then I would need a song that would lift my spirits and this incredible ditty would certainly do just that. Also, if I’m stranded and alone, I don’t want my friends and family to ever forget about me, obviously. Jackie
Plug In Baby by Muse: This has been my go-to song over the years. Its iconic guitar riff, incredible vocals, and ambiguous lyrics has helped to song to morph with me over the years. I’m constantly surprised by the newness of the song when I haven’t listened to in a while. Plus, I have many awesome memories of seeing this played live over the years, which would certainly be an advantage being stuck on a desert island with only one song. Rebekah
Simple Song by The Shins: That there are very few bands that I’ll choose to listen to over musicals but The Shins is one of those bands, I’ve been into them since high school so it’s partly nostalgia but this track in particular has such a great beat. Jenna
Levels by Avicii: Because it is the anthem of bangers that never feels old or overplayed, no matter how many times you listen to it. PK
Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin: Because it has everything, drama, a story line, and it builds to something huge like a big budget epic Adventure war film that goes for 3.5 hours. Adam
