It's only year one, and already Sounds from the Borderline is impressing us.

You might not be familiar with Goondiwindi, but thanks to Sounds from the Borderline you’ll be making it an annual holiday destination.

Nestled at the junction of five major highways, Goondiwindi sits a four-hour drive from the sunny Gold Coast, and now the town is set to host a massive Australian music lineup for the first-ever Sounds from the Borderline festival.

The lineup features James Reyne, Diesel, Shannon Noll, Moving Pictures, Bachelor Girl and Colt Seavers Band.

Goondiwindi Regional Council Mayor, Graeme Scheu, says, “It’s exciting to be able to see such high profile acts come to Goondiwindi, and judging by the support from the town, this will be bigger than when Bob Geldof performed here.  We encourage people to visit and explore regional Australia at its best.”

With more than two million album sales under his belt and a slew of hits in his back catalogue, headliner James Reyne needs no introduction. After spending seven years fronting Aussie icons Australian Crawl, he has spent nearly three decades as a solo artist, releasing eight studio albums, two acoustic collections, a covers album, and two live albums along the way. Add that to his four-album run with Australian Crawl and you’ve got one heck of a setlist.

Speaking of huge catalogues to dig through, with 13 albums and 35 singles to his name, locking in a Diesel setlist selection is sure to be no easy task. He’ll be celebrating 30 years in the music industry with a visit to Goondiwindi, so this is sure to be a celebration of his greatest moments.

From country boy to legend to meme, Shannon Noll’s journey has been a wild one, but with five top-ten albums and 17 platinum accreditations, his musical prowess is nothing to sneeze at. We aren’t sure if we’re more excited to belt out ‘Drive’ or ‘What About Me’, but we’re happy either way.

Speaking of ‘What About Me’, you’re actually going to be able to hear it twice, because the band who originally released it way back in 1982, Moving Pictures, are also on the lineup. They topped the charts with the single, and stayed there for six consecutive weeks – earning the second-highest single sales for the year. They released a stack load more hits across three cracking albums before calling it a day at the end of the ’80s, but we’re glad they decided to pick things back up again.

Iconic pop duos don’t get much bigger in Australian music than Bachelor Girl. Expect to hear all their hits including ‘Buses and Trains’, ‘Treat Me Good’ and ‘I’m Just A Girl’. Fun Fact: in 2017, APRA announced that ‘Buses and Trains’ was the most performed Australian composition on radio in the last 25 years.

Last but definitely not least is The Colt Seavers Band. After wowing crowds at Tamworth Country Music Festival in early 2018 and at Stanthorpe’s Sounds From The Vines, they will open the festival with their entertaining country rock set.

PS – if you’re from out of town, camping will be available at the festival site. For more information on that head to the festival’s website.
