So the wedding of the year is almost upon us, as millions across the world will nestle in to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot whilst eating a scone or two on Saturday evening. We’re celebrating the only way we know how, with events of course. Check out the best of the British events hitting the country so we can get in the mood for the Royal Wedding and talk like the queen.

Chelsea FC – Buy now – WA

English footballing powerhouse Chelsea FC are returning to Australia, as they prepare for their 2018/19 Premier League campaign this July. Chelsea will be competing in the FA Cup Final against Manchester United this Sunday morning (AEST), and fans will be hoping there is an additional piece of silverware on the plane over with them. Prince William, the President of the FA for the past 12 years, traditionally hands the trophy over to the winner of the Cup, but a scheduling clash sees the Final fall on the same day of the Royal Wedding, meaning he may need to withdraw from his duties this time around. Chelsea will arrive to take on Perth Glory at Optus Stadium on July 23 this year.

Iconic British author Roald Dahl’s classic tale has been made into a new musical that has taken both Broadway and The West End by storm. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is an everlasting showstopper with hit songs from the 1971 film including Pure Imagination, The Candy Man and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket alongside brand new Broadway numbers. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a classic British children’s story brought to colourful life for a brand new set out audiences. Headed to the Capitol Theatre in Sydney from January 2019 make sure to secure your golden ticket!

With one sold out date already, you’ll want to catch this British Singer songwriter at the Palais this winter. That soulful, folky voice of his is sure to warm you up right through, so with limited tickets left for the second show, we suggest you get in there whilst you can. With hits such as Keep Your Head Up and Only Love under his belt, along with a new album due out this month, there’s a lot to look forward to for this guy’s tour.

George’s Marvellous Medicine – Buy nowVIC

Acclaimed British novelist, Roald Dahl, sees his children’s short story George’s Marvellous Medicine, come to life at the Arts Centre Melbourne from September 25-29. See George attempt to put an end to his Grandmother’s constant nagging by creating a special medicine, with this brilliant new stage production from the world’s greatest storyteller.

This in an expat’s dream with a tour like this one in AUS. Featuring British 90s and 00s hit makers Five, S CLUB 3 (we don’t care there’s 3 it will still be epic) along with Big Brovaz and G.R.L, this is unmissable. If you’re like us here at TM HQ you’ll have already been practicing your dance moves from all of your school disco memories. Even though it’s all the way in Feb next year, we had to pop these ladies and gents in as this gig is certainly going to be a celebration of epic propositions.

Peppa Pig – Buy nowVIC & SA

Our favourite British kids show, Peppa Pig, brings a fantastic new live stage show to our shores, Peppa Pig’s Surprise! Peppa will be joined by George and their friends with an interactive adventure full of fun, games, surprises, and plenty of new songs with life size puppets. Peppa is coming to the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne from now until May 19, before heading to South Australia in July for two special shows at the Brenton Langbein Theatre.

Heading to the State Theatre this July, one of our favourite Brits James Bay will be performing hits from his new album, Electric Light. Having heard a couple of tracks already, we’re itching to hear more of it live. We’re hoping he’ll also throw in a few old favourites such as Let it Go and Hold Back The River but either way we’re excited.

Mister Maker – Buy now – WA, VIC, SA, NSW

The UK’s favourite arty party man, Mister Maker, is coming back Down Under on a national tour this June and July; perfect to get the kids out of the house during those cold mid-year school holidays. Mister Maker will first arrive in Sydney with five shows on June 30 and July 1, before travelling down to Victoria for six shows from July 5-7. He will then visit South Australia for two shows on July 18, before heading across to Perth for a further four shows on July 21-22. Mister Maker will even be joined live on stage by his trusty side-kicks The Shapes, and the Mister Maker dancers.

Essex lads Nothing But Thieves are heading to the Forum in July to put on one hell of a show. If you’ve been lucky enough to see these guys before, you’ll know you’re in for a treat with this lot. After having a huge year with hits such as Amsterdam and Broken Machine, we have no doubt that catching hits from their latest album will be a night to remember.

British Invasion – Buy nowVIC & NSW

This is a perfect event to re-live the glee from the Royal Wedding. It’s time to pop on those glad rags and wave those Union Jacks as we head along to British Invasion this August. This will be an unforgettable tribute to top British acts such as Elton John, Rod Stewart and David Bowie. So get those dancing shoes and vocal chords ready for a night out to remember.
