Regurgitator own it at the Tivoli Brisbane

We checked out Regurgitator at The Tivoli, Brisbane on Saturday and they were pretty much nothing less than outstanding.

Regurgitator own the stage at The Tivoli Saturday night, showering a crowd of loyal fans with their energetic set. The Brisbane 3 piece are supported by Canberra fem-rock group Glitoris, who don metallic body suits and stomp around barefoot to their politically charged music. Followed by fellow Brisbane locals The Stress of Leisure, also wearing matching clothing – this time Warhol inspired Campbell’s soup shirts.

Next up and also matching, Regurgitator surprise audiences by appearing on stage, with house lights still lit, to perform a short song while wearing giant coloured masks and wigs replicating their HEADROXX album cover art. After a quick costume change into the simple black shirt and jeans, the trio fly into their set of new and old hits and have the room dancing from the first chord of their opener I Sucked A Lot of Cock to Get Where I Am. They travel through hits from their most recognized 1997 album Unit, while sprinkling in some other standouts from their range of electro-rock, funk and hip-hop infused music.

Although, only filling the stage with a drumkit, a keyboard, a few guitars and a pair of microphones, Brisbane embrace the band as if they’re playing a sold-out stadium. The atmosphere is super contagious as the crowd dance to tracks that had seen them pass through milestones of their lives.

The evening comes to a close with the final track Black Bugs and the the curtain falls on another outstanding act to grace The Tivoli’s stage.
