Reasons to get excited for Rodrigo y Gabriela in Oz

Who's ready for some Mexican acoustic rock?

See available tickets

It’s been a whole two years since Rodrigo y Gabriela were last down under, and now they’re returning to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their self-titled breakthrough album.

We’ve been patiently waiting for the Mexican duo’s return, which is all-but over ahead of their Aussie tour next month (March). Guitar playing of this calibre doesn’t come around too often, so it’s about time they grace our stages once again.

Here are just a few reasons why you need to get excited for Rodrigo y Gabriela’s upcoming Australian tour…

The duo come with critical acclaim

If you’re heading to a Rodrigo y Gabriela tour for the very first time, then boy you’re in for a treat! Don’t believe us? Maybe you’ll believe their rather impressive CV. Not only have they collaborated with legendary composer Hans Zimmer on one of his Pirates of the Caribbean soundtracks, they also come with numerous International tours and a performance at the White House for Barack Obama. Not bad, eh?

They’re not afraid to step out of the box

It’s obvious that Rodrgo y Gabriela come with some unique genre influences. From heavy metal to jazz, it’s best to expect the unexpected at one of their gigs. And let’s be honest, their rendition of Stairway to Heaven never gets old.

They’re known to put on an epic live show

We mean, if Rodrigo y Gabriela are good enough for Barack Obama, we’re pretty sure they’re good enough for us. With that being said, they’ve got numerous TV appearances and festival performances to back that up. Known for their love of performing, we’re pretty excited to see that passion on stage in Oz.

And finally, have you seen the venues they’re playing?

After the Forum Melbourne was renovated last year, we simply can’t get enough of it. If you’re a local and have not experienced live music with that roof, we recommend that you do.

Then we’ve got The Tivoli in Brisbane; turning 100 next year, this beautiful art deco venue is a perfect setting for a night of unforgettable guitar rock.
