Mika announces 2020 Australian tour dates
Everybody's gonna love today, gonna love today, gonna love today
Following the release of his fifth album, pop sensation Mika is set to make his way back to Australia in February 2020.
His new album My Name is Michael Holbrook (it really is!) will bring Mika Down Under for the first time in 11 years and will also feature his first-ever performance in New Zealand.
The Beirut-born performer will bring his latest music and iconic favourites to audiences around the country, making this the first chance Aussie fans have had to hear tunes from his last three albums live.
It’s been quite a journey for Mika. After launching to international acclaim in 2007 with single ‘Grace Kelly’ (we know, it’s automatically stuck in our heads too) – the singles soaring high notes and infectious groove selling millions of copies worldwide and helping his debut album Life in Cartoon Motion multiplatinum – three more albums followed. 2009’s The Boy Who Knew Too Much, 2012’s The Origin of Love (which, by the way, features ‘Popular Song’, a tune with then up-and-comer Ariana Grande) and 2015’s No Place in Heaven.
Along the way he fell out of love with music, landed himself on the judging panel of The Voice in France and Italy, and decided to take it right back to basics by building a home studio.
Now, two years in the making, 2019 has gifted up My Name Is Michael Holbrook. Billboard describes it as “his boldest work yet” and we cannot argue with that. Written in Miami and Tuscany and recorded using vintage synths in Brussels, Mika is bringing it right back to the sound that made up fall in love with him over a decade ago.
