Lucy Peach announces My Greatest Period Ever
Feminist folk singer and self-proclaimed period preacher Lucy Peach is ready to make us rethink the way we feel about 'that time of the month'.
Yes, uterus-havers, we are talking about periods!
For many of us, periods still seem to be a taboo topic. Asking in hushed whispers around the office is anyone has a spare tampon, hiding pads at the bottom of our bags, secretly checking to make sure we haven’t had any blood-related accidents whenever a shiny surface appears – we’ve all been there.
And let’s face it, that 3-7 days a month isn’t the most fun time. It can be messy and uncomfortable, cramps are usually involved, you’re probably in a bad mood, maybe you want to cry all the time, and you’re definitely eating more chocolate than usual.
This is where singer and TED Talker Lucy Peach comes in.
Through her hilarious and heartfelt show, My Greatest Period Ever, alongside ‘The Doctor & The Naturopath’ they will hack your menstrual cycle from a curse into your greatest superpower.
Since My Greatest Period Ever debuted in 2017, when Peach took out the Perth Fringe World’s coveted top prize (the Martin Sims Award); there have been multiple sell-out seasons across the country, TEDx appearances and a string of awards.
Now for the first time, My Greatest Period Ever will hit Brisbane, with a post-show women’s health talk by The Doctor and The Naturopath.
My Greatest Period Ever is the multimedia true-life reflection of how Lucy found inspiration in her own menstrual cycle to find a new way of life, unlock and amplify her creativity and produce her award-winning sophomore album. With stories, science and songs, Lucy is joined by her husband Richard Peach who creates live illustrations to bring her menstrual messages to life.
The Doctor and The Naturopath are Brisbane women’s health duo Dr Peta Wright, Gynaecologist and Elysia Humphries, Naturopath. Through their post-show Q&A they’ll chat about women’s cycles, hormones and natural hacks to help common “secret women’s problems”
All proceeds will go to charity Glory Reborn, a health clinic for women and babies in the Phillippines.
