Genre-bending blues artist and guitar virtuoso Gary Clark Jr will play shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth when he arrives in Down Under this April.

The Grammy-award winning artist has been described as one of the most acclaimed bluesmen of our generation, and the way he channels the essence of rock’n’roll, blues, jazz, hip-hop, reggae and punk into his repertoire of music has to be heard.

His Australian tour will closely follow the release of Clark Jr’s new album THIS LAND, which is due for release Friday March 1. The album sees him spanning his full musical spectrum – from acoustic country-blues to dub-reggae.

The title track from the record is a powerful condemnation of racism in America. “I think it’s only right at this point in time, if you have a microphone louder than others, to speak out about that anger,” Clark recently told Rolling Stone. He continued: “I haven’t been through shit compared to my people. But if I can do anything with my opportunity, and say thank you to Dr. Martin Luther King for sacrificing your life so that I can have a microphone, that’s the least I can do.”

Throughout his career, Gary Clark Jr has collaborated and performed with some of today’s greatest musical artists including The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Foo Fighters, Eric Clapton, Nas, and Booker T Jones.
