In response to enormous demand, Elton John has added even more shows to his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour, taking over Australia in 2019 and 2020.
Absolute legend Sir Elton John has revealed all the details of his epic Australian 2019/2020 farewell tour – locking in more than two months on our shores.
Thanks to a little (and by little, we mean huge) film called Rocketman, Elton-mania has well and truly overtaken Australia. Of course, the only possible solution is more Elton, so we are pretty stoked to hear that’s exactly what we are getting.
In what is sure to be an incredible moment, and add another milestone onto his illustrious mantle, Sir Elton has been announced as the first-ever artist set to perform at Townsville’s brand new North Queensland Stadium, with the show taking place on Saturday 29 February. Thirteen years after his 2007 visit (a show that saw him play to a record-breaking 22,000-strong audience), Sir Elton will return to for another record.
That isn’t all though. Bringing his Victorian show tally up to 11 (that is a lot of goodbyes), Si Elton will take to Geelong’s Mt Duneed Estate for a special A Day On The Green show on Saturday 7 December. The man is truly remarkable.

From the end of November 2019, all the way through to the end of January 2020, Sir Elton John will travel around the country, taking in both capital city stadiums and regional destinations in what will be the music icon’s most extensive Australian tour to date. Not a bad way to say goodbye.
48 years after his first ever Perth show, Sir Elton John will open his Australian farewell-leg with back-to-back nights at Perth’s HBF Park (formerly nib Stadium), before taking his incredible songbook to stages including Adelaide’s Botanic Park, Queensland’s Sirromet Wines, as well as Victoria’s Hanging Rock, All Saints Estate, and Rochford Wines.
His three-year long farewell tour – which began in Pennsylvania, USA in September 2018 – will see Sir Elton John perform more than 300 shows across five continents, and will, of course, feature his most beloved songs including Bennie and the Jets, Rocket Man, and Tiny Dancer.
Sir Elton John says, “I always love coming back to Australia. Ever since my first visit in 1971, it has held a very special place in my heart.” Most recently, his historical Australian performances included performing at the opening of Perth Arena and delivering the final performance at the now demolished Sydney Entertainment Centre.
It has been a marvellous 50 years, but it is now time for Sir Elton John’s final curtain call.
