Hot Dub Time Machine is almost ready to help us celebrate Riverstage's 30th birthday so we sat down to chat with him about musical time travel and just what we can expect from the party.
The man whose blonde spikes have lasted longer than most people’s music careers – Billy Idol, has announced he will bring his huge list of mega-hits to Australian stages in January and February 2020.
We know he needs little introduction. The Grammy nominee and punk rock superstar has well and truly earned his place in rock n roll history.
With huge singalong hits like ‘White Wedding’, ‘Dancing With Myself’, and ‘Rebel Yell’ still regularly featuring on karaoke nights worldwide, getting to belt these songs out with Idol in the flesh is an opportunity we can’t wait for.
These will be his first dates Down Under since 2015, and he is bringing his full band back with him – including his long-time collaborator and legendary lead-guitarist Steve Stevens.
Idol will first greet Brisbane fans for a special headline show, but Melbourne friends don’t fret – you’ll also get your Idol fix as he is the first artist to be announced on the Australian Open’s 2020 AO Live Stage.
Joining Billy Idol on all dates is Melbourne rockers The Delta Riggs. In September, the Delta Riggs will head to the UK for a series of shows in support of their upcoming fourth album Modern Pressure, so they’ll be well and truly ready for the festivities. Also performing is Sydney band The Kids.
Idol is currently on the road in the USA alongside Bryan Adams, while October will see him perform a 10-date Las Vegas residency. As well as his trip Down Under, 2020 will also see Idol receive a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
On that note, we’ll leave you with this a+, late ’90s pop culture moment.
Billy Idol will tour Australia in January and February 2020. Tickets to his Brisbane show are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.
