It's time to wake Maggie up, Rod Stewart is on his way...
Norwegian pop icons a-ha have announced they will return to Australian tours for the first time in 34 years in February and March 2020.
And as a bonus treat, they are bringing with them the man who is never ever gonna give you up, that’s right, Mr Rick Astley.
A-ha dominated pop charts worldwide during the ’80s and will return to Australia under special circumstances – to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their hugely influential debut album Hunting High and Low – that’s right, the album chockful of huge bangers including ‘Take On Me’. Yes, we can hear you singing along right now.
The trio will perform the classic album in full, alongside choice cuts from throughout their career, so this tour is set to be an extra special treat for Australian fans.
“Australia was the country we played our first ever live concerts and was our first brush with worldwide fame. It was a thrilling adventure to be there on the opposite side of the world and it’s a thrill to return in 2020 – finally we will be back where it all started,” the band’s keyboardist Mags Furuholmen says.
While a-ha have remained one of the UK and Europe’s most-loved bands, and regularly feature in stadiums and on festival bills, they haven’t ventured Down Under since 1986 to celebrate the release of this very album.
Turning the ’80s-throwback pop factor up to 100, the addition of special guest Rick Astley makes these special A Day On The Green dates absolutely unmissable. As an added bonus, these shows will also feature ’80s synth-pop pioneers Pseudo Echo and up and coming glam-pop band I Know Leopard.
A-ha will team up with Rick Astley to tour Australia in February and March 2020, tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.
