5 Seconds of Summer are celebrating two #1 debuts this week, having topped the charts at home in Australia and overseas in America.

The Sydney four-piece have their third album, Youngblood, to thank for the success, which joins its title track at the #1 spot; where it’s been for five consecutive weeks, no less.

5SOS become the 13th Aussie act, ever, to top the singles and album charts at the same time.

Other acts to achieve it previously include John Farnham, Savage Garden, Delta Goodrem and Silverchair. Now that’s a dinner party we’d want to attend…

5SOS also become the seventh Australian act to have their first three albums debut at #1 on the ARIA chart. Youngblood follows the band’s 2014 self-titled release and 2015’s Sounds Good Feels Good.

Releasing a statement, the band said, “To have our music be received so well and reciprocated in our home country has been the proudest feeling in the world.

“To have Youngblood go number one was the cherry on top.

“Thank you from the bottom of our souls to everyone who has supported this band throughout this chapter of our career.

“There’s still so much to come.”

5SOS take their Meet You There tour across Australia this August. Secure your tickets now at Ticketmaster.com.au.
