My Fair Lady has been a hit with Australian theatre lovers and the casting of homegrown talent has caused a flurry of fans from Tasmania.

Josh Gates is currently starring in My Fair Lady at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre, having previously appeared on stage in Billy Elliot the Musical, La Cage Aux Folles and Anything Goes.

As a youngster, Josh started out his career as an understudy in the role of a young Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, starring Hugh Jackman.

His lead in the Australian tour of Billy Elliot the Musical later won him a highly-respected Green Room Award for Best Actor in a Musical and an Australian Dance Award.

Tassie theatregoers have been flocking to Regent Theatre to catch Josh in his latest role, as he appears in the iconic production directed by Julie Andrews.

My Fair Lady tells the endearing story of Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle; played by Andrews in the 1956 musical. Widely regarded as one of the most charming, warm and vivid productions on stage today, the production features songs like Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?On The Street Where You LiveI Could Have Danced All Night and Get Me to the Church on Time.
