Green Day’s award-winning musical, American Idiot, has just confirmed an Australian tour for 2018.

Bringing us what promises to be one of the biggest and boldest versions of the production to date, the Australian cast will rock into Sydney Opera House this coming January.

The show will run at the Concert Hall for a strictly limited time between 11 – 14 January 2018, before moving to Adelaide*, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Winner of two Tony Awards® and the 2010 Grammy® Award winner for Best Musical Show Album, American Idiot tells the strenuous story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world.

The show features the music of Green Day with lyrics by lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.

This trilling show has been a certified hit with both Green Day fans and musical lovers across the globe, while successfully introducing a new generation of theatregoers to the powerful world of musical theatre. It’s a heartfelt and moving tale of our time, and one that feels even more raw on a live theatre stage.

Grinspoon’s Phil Jamieson leads the all-Australian cast in the role of St Jimmy, helping to perform EVERY song from Green Day‘s American Idiot, as well as a handful of songs from follow-up album, 21st Century Breakdown.
