Big Bash League takes centre stage at Etihad Stadium

You don’t need us to tell you that the Big Bash League (BBL) is one of the hottest tickets in town right now – that much is blatantly obvious.

But you may need us to tell you that it isn’t too late to get your hands on reserved seats for what is shaping up as one of the biggest games of the year for the Twenty20 domestic league.

The Melbourne Renegades will host their fiercest rival – cross town nemeses, the Melbourne Stars – on Saturday night at Etihad Stadium. More than 80,000 fans set a BBL crowd record when these two sides took to the field in the first Melbourne Derby so we expect to see a bumper crowd at Etihad Stadium for the return bout.

With a massive crowd expected, we encourage all fans to pre-book tickets for the match to avoid queues and disappointment. Click here to purchase tickets to the Melbourne Renegades v Melbourne Stars at Etihad Stadium on Saturday January 9 now.

The Stars and Renegades have created a passionate rivalry that separates Melburnians. Now in its fifth year, the popularity of the Big Bash League is going from strength-to-strength. Twenty20 cricket is fantastic for families and the BBL offers an electric atmosphere with masses of on and off field action.

The Stars and Renegades feature many of Australia’s best T20 players with notable big hitters including Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner and Cameron White. The two Victorian sides also boast some of the best international names including Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright.

And as an added bonus, all ticket holders can access the WBBL match between the Renegades and Sydney Thunder ahead of the BBL match. The curtain raiser will see many of the world’s best female cricketers battle it out.

In the previous Melbourne Derby, it was the Stars who took the points. The Renegades will be working hard to turn their home ground into a fortress and turn the tables for the return match.

Etihad Stadium is an ideal venue to watch cricket. As well as the tiered seating which makes you feel a part of the game the noise at the venue is immense – and it is going to be even better than normal with the huge crowd that will no doubt turn out for the Derby.

But better still, it is the only cricket venue in Australia that has a roof and can guarantee play regardless of the weather outside. There is no such thing as a rain delay when you attend a Melbourne Renegades match at Etihad Stadium!

So, get yourself into gear and get your tickets sorted for what promises to be one of the best events of the summer.
