TM’s School Holidays Guide to having a good time – QLD Edition

If you are looking for great ideas to entertain the kids during the school holidays, look no further! Ticketmaster has compiled a list of fun, family-friendly events that will keep Mum, Dad and the kids happy.

Snow4Kids
Riverstage at Botanical Gardens
June 28-July 13 – 9am-4pm daily

Riverstage in Brisbane’s Botanical Gardens will be transformed into a winter wonderland during the school holidays. Snow4Kids is a winter playground designed especially for children and is open between 9am and 4pm each day of the school holidays. Kids can enjoy toboggan rides, snow man building, snow ball throwing, fun in the giant snow dome and the Silly Snow Man Snow Show.  With fresh snow made daily, the Snow4Kids attractions are sure to entertain the little ones. Ticketmaster is selling an ‘Everything Ticket’ which includes entry to all five of the attractions. Daily there are five sessions including 9am, 10.30am, 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm.

AFL: Gold Coast SUNS v Collingwood
Metricon Stadium
Saturday July 5 – 4.40pm

Get down to Metricon Stadium to see the Gold Coast SUNS take on one of the AFL’s powerhouse clubs, Collingwood. Gary Ablett and co cleaned the Pies up last year and they will be hoping to do the same on the return visit in 2014. There is sure to be a bumper crowd and great carnival atmosphere at the game, which will keep the kids entertained and enthralled. Your ticket to the GC SUNS v Collingwood match also allows entry to the NEAFL curtain raiser between the SUNS and Southport. The SUNS will play a further three home games at Metricon Stadium in 2014 including against St Kilda on August 2, Port Adelaide on August 16 and West Coast in Round 23 (time and date TBC).

Australia Zoo
Beerwah
Open daily – 9am-5pm

Crikey! The kids will love a trip to the famous Australia Zoo during the school holidays. The zoo, which is a legacy of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, has more than 1200 animals from Australia and beyond. The crocodiles are the highlight for many, but if your kids prefer animals of the cuddlier kind, check out the koalas, wombats and kangaroos. There are loads of free shows each day and the zo is running a school holiday program that will have the kids transfixed. Ticketmaster offers one-day and two-day admission passes.

AFL: Brisbane Lions
Gabba
June 28 – 7.40pm and July 12 – 7.40pm

The Brisbane Lions will play two home matches at the Gabba during the school holidays. The Lions will take on North Melbourne on Saturday June 28 before playing the West Coast Eagles on Saturday July 12. The Lions will be keen to get a win against the Kangaroos in Round 14 following the retirement of three-time premiership player, Jonathan Brown. A win will celebrate the former captain’s legacy as an all-time great of the club as well as the game. For the remainder of 2014, the Lions will play home matches at the Gabba against their biggest rival, the Gold Coast SUNS, on July 26, Adelaide on August 10 and Fremantle on August 24.

Dreamworld on the Gold Coast is the perfect place to take the kids during the school holidays. The theme park is packed with exciting rides, amazing attractions and beautiful animals. As well as terrifying thrill rides, Dreamworld has fun family rides and even toddler-friendly rides, many of which are in Wiggles World. The kids will love the live Madagascar show that brings to life all the favourites from the DreamWorks films. Animal lovers will want to visit the Corroboree and Tiger Island while you can find the thrill seekers on one of the spine-tingling rides such as Panda-monium, the Giant Drop or Mick Doohan’s Motocoaster. As well as one-day Dreamworld admission passes, Ticketmaster offers a World Pass that allows entry to Dreamworld and WhiteWater World.
