Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant is set to headline Palais Theatre next year with his band, the Sensational Space Shifters.

The rock legend returns to Australia not only in support of new album Carry Fire (released October 2017), but to mark the 50-year anniversary since Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut was unleashed on the world, which falls in 2018.

No fan will want to miss these shows, with the Sensational Space Shifters crafting a sound that celebrates the very best elements of Plant’s career.

Having created an interstellar live set all of their own, the Sensational Space Shifters use experimental electronics and raw acoustics to transport fans through eras of inspiration for Plant.

Officially, the band’s press says they’re loosely ‘inspired by the roots music of Mississippi, Appalachia, Gambia, Bristol and the foothills of Wolverhampton and drawing on influences collected in a lifetime of meander and journeying’.

Robert Plant has also spoken about creating new work after 50 years in the music industry, saying, “It’s about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new. Consequently, the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation”.

The new Palais Theatre is brought to us by Bluesfest Touring, and coincides with Robert Plants’ headline appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest in March 2018.
